Humility

'Humility is to the other virtues
 what the chain is in a rosary.
Take away the chain and the beads are scattered;
remove humility, and all virtues vanish.'

St. John Vianney

Painting: Henry  Guillaume Schlesinger, 1868

  1. The painting...the words...and the thoughts that follow. That's why I enjoy your blog so much. Have a great weekend.

  2. I love this quote Nancy. I am reading and rereading it and meditating on it today. I have been drawn to praying more and more rosaries for the Conclave. Thank you.

    1. Isn't a blessing to know that so many are praying for the Conclave right now, and that we're doing so together? Thanks, Anabelle, for your kind words.

  3. I guess that's why it is called "the mother of all virtues". I love this quote - definitely a lot of food for thought in these words. (Great painting too)
