'O Jesus, when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence, Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust in Your protecting love and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us, for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand, Your purpose, Your will through all things.'
St. Ignatius Loyola
St. Ignatius Loyola
Painting: Backhuysen, Ludolf; Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee, 1695
Thank you, Nancy, I really needed these wise words today. Not that "all is darkness" around me, not at all, but there are certainly many distressing events that can be overwhelming and worrisome. I will memorize these words from St Loyola, so I thank you again. xo
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gloria.
DeleteYes, seeing His "will through all things." This is so difficult especially when we feel weak and helpless. It seems to come back again and again to surrendering ALL and that leaves us empty with the possibility to fill with Him. And where else would we rather be really than in His presence and His in ours. Beautiful post once again Nancy. The painting is amazing and makes me feel thankful I am on dry land for now...
ReplyDeleteThe words of St. Ignatius are so fitting for this painting of Christ and the storm. So often we get so caught up in what is going on around us that we fail to see Him in our midst.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful Nancy.
