"God is more pleased by one work, however small,
done secretly, without desire that it be known,
than a thousand done with desire that men know of them."

A good reminder!

DeleteThe secret, hidden promptings of love! Thank you for this beautiful post Nancy. The painting is amazing. I am so struck by the hands and details of the white hues , the eggs and garlic and porcelain--her dress and the red-oranges popping out of the black background! And then that lovely detail of the water flowing! Wow...lots to contemplate...
ReplyDeleteI, too, am struck by this painting. I'm intrigued by the asymmetrical balance of it, which I find thoroughly pleasing and much more interesting than if the lady had been placed, say, closer to the middle.
DeleteThanks so much!
Having secrets with God...so wonderful! Loved reading the comments between you and Cynthia. I had to go back and look for all that you two "artsy" ladies mentioned! My dad was an artist, but I am clueless :) God bless you!
ReplyDeletePatricia, what you said has put a new slant on this idea for me. Can't explain it, really, but to think about showing love for God secretly - by doing something kind but hidden for someone (for instance) is suddenly a sweeter than ever thought.
DeleteA timely and sobering reminder!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nancy.
Thank you, Trish!
