'Encourage quiet thoughts.
Truth is eternal, and eternal things are low-keyed.
Imitate God, Who is the most silent of all.He hides in nature.
He lurks in the secret places of the heart.
He moves hidden behind history.'

Wow! This is beautiful Nancy!! The painting is gorgeous too. Thanks for letting us know how to order this book Sheltering the Divine Outcast...Can't wait to read it!! Thanks again for your wonderful post. May we find some deep quiet today and be with God....
ReplyDeleteThank you. It is so good to have a place to share such things :).!
DeleteLove the last line especially...
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy, for sharing!
Chris, I'm with you... that last line just jumped right out at me. Thanks so much!
DeleteA beautiful post especially at this time of the year with all of His splendor showing through the beauty of nature.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I hadn't thought of it in conjunction with the time of year... . but He is "hiding" behind the reds and oranges and golds :)!
DeleteNancy,
ReplyDeleteI really should print off or copy out all the wonderful quotes you are posting. I could start a prayer journal.
I love the painting, especially the clothes. Is it a jacket or coat, do you think? It reminds me of Vermeer. He used to borrow his wife's jacket and his model wore it in a number of his paintings. We wonder if Vermeer's wife got fed up of lending her jacket to him: "Jan, will you be long finishing that painting? I'd like to wear my jacket."!
I'm thinking of doing the same thing, Sue! I love the painting too; love the light in it.
DeleteAnd I am genuinely laughing out loud at Jan's wife's question! Her loan of the jacket is something I never knew... so here you are, your unschooling is reaching people across the pond!
Autumn always makes me smile - even when I was young Fall was proof to me there really IS a God. After all, beauty is on purpose isn't it? I've never quite understood how people could not see the Artist behind the masterpiece that is this world. Thank you for sharing this beautiful quote, Nancy :)
ReplyDeleteThank YOU so much, Mary. I have always thought it so wonderful that God "paints" everything in vibrant, warm, even "hot" (like the reds) colors just when things are cooling down. And in the darkest days of winter, He brightens the world with snow. And in the heat of summer, He brings in soft cool greens. He knows what He is doing!
DeleteHi Nancy! What a beautiful post. I do find that God speaks in whispers while my mind yells like a crazy person. I was actually thinking about a blog post around that theme! "Eternal things are low key." So true!
ReplyDeleteHappy to meet you, and visit your lovely blog here :)
Blessings!
Ceil
Thank you, Ceil. I just visited your blog, and one of your recent posts spoke right to me, on the topic of not being able to put things into words. I'm so glad you stopped by and introduced yourself here!
