'God has created me to do Him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission - I may never may know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next.'
John Henry Cardinal Newman
Painting: William Strang, Cynthia, 1917
Oh yes! Another great quote from Bl J H Cardinal Newman. Each and every one of us is so important in the whole scheme of things. I've thinking about this as it applies to babies who live such short lives. They have their mission too. One day we shall discover exactly what our purpose in life was. I just hope I fulfil my mission.
ReplyDeleteSue, I love the reminder about babies having their missions also. I know Thomas certainly has one ... his goes on and on!
DeleteRandom-ish comment: The name of that painting... that's my name. (But that may or may not be related.... Carry on.)
ReplyDeleteRandom comments are fun - thanks! :)
DeleteLover, love, love this painting and quotation! What a giant Bl J H Newman. The colors in the artwork are miraculous...there is no other word. Not to mention the textures! This is inspiring on so many levels. Thank you for posting this Nancy...just what I needed to hear and see this morning....God Bless....
ReplyDeleteThank you! I can see her being you, composing poetry as she sits......
Deletenancy your posts always speak to me. You're scary :)
ReplyDeleteScary, huh! :) Actually, I do pray to find quotes and the pics to go with them. Sometimes it takes me aback how quickly there is a "match up." I usually feel God is speaking right to me; I'm glad He speaks to others at the same time.
Delete(blogging sure can improve your prayer life, can't it?)
Thank YOU, Colleen!
ReplyDeleteGreat quote! I love the fact that each and every one of us has a special mission in life that no one else can do even though it may often be a "secret" mission :)
