"Lately I was near the beehives, and some of the bees flew onto my face. I wanted to raise my hand and brush them off. 'No,' a peasant said to me. 'Don't be afraid and don't touch them. They won't sting you at all unless you touch them.' I trusted him, and not one stung me. Trust me: don't fear these temptations; don't touch them, and they won't hurt you. Pass on and don't spend time with them." (St. Francis de Sales)

That's good information. When my oldest child was very young, she used to pet the bees in the garden. It was a long time before one stung her :)

She would PET the bees?!? How absolutely precious (although I wouldn't be saying that if she'd been stung more quickly!). I've always thought they could sense and react to fear. Sounds as if they might sense when they are loved as well!
DeleteIs this a quote from St Francis de Sales?
ReplyDeleteThanx for visiting me.
God bless.
Yes, it is, Victor. And I actually visit you much more often than I stop to comment :) !
DeleteGood advice, Nancy :) I think when we fear them we make them bigger than they really are.
ReplyDeleteMary, I was thinking a similar thing just yesterday.
