'Let us place our confidence in God and set ourselves in complete dependence upon His Providence. Then we need not worry about what others say of us or do to us, for it will all turn out to our advantage.'
St. Vincent de Paul
Painting: Anton Laupheimer Schreibender, Mönch
This is so good for me to read because I am always one to worry about what others think of me. I often think of the St. Francis of Assisi quote you have on your sidebar--"What I am in the sight of God, that I am and no more"-- has given me much strength lately.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate all of your wisdom here, Nancy.
Thank you, Kathleen, for your really kind words. I thank God for the wisdom of His saints!
DeleteAs usual, I'm amazed by the timing of this quote...How reassuring!
ReplyDeleteLife with God is truly amazing, isn't it Rebecca?! Thanks so much.
DeleteLove this painting and the light of it! This quote reminds me of Julian of Norwich writing something like... And all will be well, And all will be well..all manner of things will be well in the end.... It is indeed a comfort to realize God has our best interest for all of eternity in mind and is lovingly moving us in the direction of spending it with Him. What unfathomable love is His! Thank you Nancy for the lovely painting and inspiring quotation.
ReplyDeleteI love that quote from Julian of Norwich! I know you (smile) will appreciate that fact that I (smile again) appreciate even the rhythm of it... a soothing rhythm to go along with a genuinely soothing truth.
