'Among all those who come under the heading of neighbor, there is no one who deserves this name more than those with whom we live. These are the closest to us, living under the same roof and eating the same bread. Hence they must be among the main recipients of our love. Toward them we must show true charity, which is not to be based on flesh and blood, nor on their personal qualities, but solely on God.'
St. Francis de Sales
Painting: Carl Thomsen, A Sunday Afternoon
What a lovely painting...so homey and comforting with that golden light streaming in. I feel as if I could sit right down with the girls at the table and have a good visit over tea. It certainly matches the essence of the quote you share by St. Francis de Sales.

Thank you! Shall we sit down and have tea together with the others, in that golden light? :)
DeleteNancy, this quote is so wonderful. In fact, I may save the quote, print it in a pretty font, and frame it and it will make some lovely wall art in our kitchen. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, Kathleen!!
DeleteThis is so true and most difficult in a lot of ways. The dailiness and messiness of loving is at times trying to say the least. Our love is forged in the home and begins there does it not? Love the scene and light in the painting. Good choice!
